Therapeutic Programs
Integrity, Service, Vision, Hope
The Meramec Adventure Learning Ranch is the adventure and wilderness therapy arm of Great Circle. The ranch programs are committed to helping the youth and families that we serve interrupt negative patterns, discover and capitalize on their strengths, and inspire changes in their perspective. This growth, which only comes through individual commitment, can then lead to a life of purpose and one that makes a positive impact on the world around them.
The Youth We Serve
Our programs are geared for kids who have incredible potential and big dreams, but who cannot seem to find their way. While symptoms vary, underlying issues these youth deal with are often similar.
- poor self-confidence
- self-loathing
- guilt/shame
- anger
- depression
- hopelessness
Changing Perspectives
The youth we serve have obstacles in their paths that may seem like high unconquerable mountains. So high, in fact, that many have given up hope. These obstacles may be events that have occurred or decisions made in the past, or may be the challenges facing these young people in the future. While past events, decisions and actions cannot be changed, and the future is yet to be determined, therapeutic adventure and wilderness work can give youth not only great strategies for overcoming obstacles, but in a controlled real-life, real-stress environment, give them the training and practice they need to gain an elevated position from which to view those obstacles they face everyday. From this position, perspectives of how they view those obstacles can change, and no longer does that mountain look so high or unconquerable. Adventure and wilderness experiences teach the skills and also provide the training ground to change perspective. This changed perspective can give birth to HOPE.
